Yard Ornamentation
These guidelines are intended to indicate which ornament additions require approval by the Architectural Review Board before
installation, and which types are not allowed. These guidelines do not apply to temporary seasonal holiday decorations in front yards.
No specific approval is required if the proposed ornamentation passes ALL the conditions outlined below:
SIZE
-Must be smaller than 36” in ALL dimensions (including bed height). Larger size must be reviewed and approved by the ARB.
LOCATION
- Must be within 10 ft of the front of the house, not including steps. Other sites require approval.
NUMBER OF PIECES
- No more than two (2) pieces of sculpture or ornament are allowed in front yards.
MATERIALS
- Permitted ......................stone, wood, or concrete.
- Requiring approval .......all others
COLORS
- Permitted........................a natural weathered look. Also permitted: painted or stained natural colors in the green, brown, or black family
- Requiring approval ........all other colors.
- Not allowed....................bright, fluorescent, neon, or “hot” colors (pink, purple, etc.).
SUBJECT MATTER
- Permitted ..................birdbaths, stone lanterns, religious or classical figures, small stone animals, baskets, urns, sundials, small
birdhouses, and benches.
- Requiring approval ...all other subject matter (example: flagpoles, fountains)
- Not allowed...............wishing wells, windmills, life-size animals, (deer, flamingos, etc.), wheelbarrows, buckboards, wagon wheels,
decorative signs, hitching posts, fencing, large silhouette figures, rope swings
PLANTING BEDS and PLANTS
- Permitted .......……………… ….various natural mulches (pine straw, bark, etc)
- Requiring ARB approval ........... all other materials, including stone products (gravels, etc.)
- Not allowed ................................ crop plants like corn, squash, beans, blackberry, etc.
MAILBOXES................no modifications to the appearance of the mailboxes are allowed
